More about Copper Pipe Fittings
Copper pipe fittings give you a straightforward way to build, alter or repair copper plumbing and heating pipework with a jointing method that matches the job. In this collection you can compare both the fitting shape and the connection system, which is the key difference that affects how you install the joint. You will find common configurations such as couplings, elbows, tees, reducers and stop ends in copper, covering everything from simple straight joins to changes in direction, branching runs and stepping between pipe sizes.
The first decision is usually connection method. This range includes end feed and solder ring capillary fittings, and copper fittings are also commonly available in press systems more widely. End feed fittings are often chosen when you want a neat, economical fitting and you are happy to supply and apply the solder yourself. Solder ring fittings keep the capillary approach but include a pre-loaded solder ring, which can make solder quantity and positioning more straightforward on site. Neither system is automatically the better choice for every installation. It depends on your pipework, your working method and the conditions around the job.
Once you know how the joint will be made, choose the fitting configuration based on what the pipe run needs to do. Couplings join pipe in a straight line. Elbows change direction, with 45 and 90 degree options in the wider range. Tees create a branch, while reducing fittings help when one side of the run needs to step down or up in size. Stop ends close off a line cleanly. Keeping configuration separate from connection method helps you avoid ordering the right shape in the wrong jointing system.
Size is the next practical check. This collection includes small-bore options such as 10mm, 12mm and 15mm, along with reducing combinations and selected much larger fittings for substantial pipework. On reducing products and tees, check every stated dimension rather than relying on the first size alone, as that tells you only part of the fitting. Where product details are supplied, you can also compare items by recognised standards and approvals, including WRAS approval on supported products, before you make your final choice.
If you already know the jointing route you want, it may help to narrow the range through End Feed Fittings, Solder Ring Fittings or the wider Plumbing Fittings collection. Otherwise, start with three checks. Match the fitting to copper pipe, confirm the exact size and configuration, then make sure the connection method suits your tools, access and manufacturer installation requirements.
