Product information
Solder ring fittings are a practical choice when you want a permanent soldered joint on copper pipework without feeding separate solder into each connection as you heat it. The solder is already built into the fitting, which many installers and competent DIY customers find quicker to manage and easier to judge during the jointing process. You still get the compact capillary style used on copper systems, but with a controlled quantity of solder already in place.
This collection covers the common fitting shapes you need to build, alter or finish a pipe run properly. You will find straight couplings for joining pipe, elbows for changes of direction, tees for branches, stop ends for terminating a run, and adaptor patterns where a threaded connection is needed. There are equal and reducing options across the range, with sizes including 10mm, 12mm, 15mm and 22mm, plus selected reducing combinations and threaded variants. That makes it easier to stay with the same jointing method across the job rather than mixing fitting types unnecessarily.
The main reason to choose solder ring over end feed is convenience, not a fundamentally different end result. Both create the same general type of soldered connection. With solder ring, the measured solder is already inside the fitting, so you do not need to apply solder separately while heating. Some customers prefer that for repair work, repeated small-bore joints or jobs where a tidy, consistent routine matters. Others still favour end feed on fitting cost or personal working method. If you want to compare both approaches, see End Feed Fittings.
As with any capillary joint, good preparation still matters. Pipe and fitting surfaces need to be prepared correctly, flux applied, and heat used properly so the solder melts and flows around the joint as intended. These fittings are therefore better suited to jobs where hot works are appropriate and a permanent connection is wanted. If you need a joint that can be dismantled later, or heat is awkward to use on site, Compression Fittings may be the more practical route.
Before ordering, it is worth checking three things: the exact fitting geometry, every stated connection size, and the intended application on the product details. Within this Flowflex range you can also compare supported standards and approvals such as WRAS approval and BS EN references where listed. Match the fitting to your copper pipework and the way the run needs to change, branch, reduce or terminate, and choosing the right solder ring fitting becomes a much more straightforward job.
